How do you communicate on wifi?

Well, I think the wifi is a nice little feature but the tweaks make it a bit annoying, the form of communication supplied is pretty much impossible.
The pen was a nice idea but far to slow, and you run out of ink so its not very good for attempting long sentances...So I just wondered what you did to get round this nasty feature?
Personally I just take my laptop down to my room with me so I can just stay online and chat, but what do you do?

I do exactly the same, I find that the in game communication is hopeless but its fine if you have your laptop with you whilst playing and chat on irc or other chat application

or unless you have a game where you can really talk talk.  Like Pokemon D/P

I usually use the computer but since our wireless router doesn't work I have to stay on the main computer which is awkward cause the Wiimote sensor just doesn't reach to there..

I used my laptop. We just carried on a conversation by PM in irc. It worked fine.

The pen would be an awful way to communicate. I find it cumbersome.
